First Aid Training Group’s Fire Extinguisher training course enables the successful participant to demonstrate how various portable fire protection products are used in emergency situations. The course covers demonstrating the use of a portable fire extinguisher, a fire hose reel and a fire blanket. All work in this area must be completed in accordance with relevant legislative, industry, customer and organisational requirements, including Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures.

First Aid Training Group’s comprehensive fire equipment practical training course will provide participants with the knowledge, skill and confidence to use the fire safety equipment within their workplace during an emergency. The course covers demonstrating the use of portable fire extinguishers, hose reels plus the effective and safe use of a fire blanket and includes;
Determine the classification and fire type
Select the appropriate fire extinguisher to attack the fire. Demonstrate usage of fire extinguishers safely according to the manufacturers’ instructions, and in accordance with relevant OH&S and workplace policies and procedures.
Demonstrate correct usage of a fire hose reel
Demonstrate usage of the hose reel safely according to manufacturers’ instructions and in accordance with relevant WHS and workplace policies and procedures. Turn off water in the approved sequence and check the hose reel for leaks. Rewind the hose reel correctly after use.
Demonstrate correct usage of a fire blanket
Demonstrate usage of the fire blanket safely according to manufacturers’ instructions and in accordance with the relevant WHS and workplace policies and procedures.
Course Details
The face to face training is 2 hours and covers both the theory and practical aspects of Confine Small Workplace Emergencies.

Certificate Validity
As per AS3745-2010 ‘Planning for Emergencies in Facilities’, Training is recommended annually.
