This intensive skill set course takes the normal first aid officer and elevates them to the ability to control scenes and to manage first aid facilities within a workplace environment. Conducted through a mix of blended e-learning and face to face content, participants gain the necessary skills to undertake the role of an advanced first aider. The face to face component is conducted over 2.5 days.
The skillset comprises the following units of competency:
HLTAID011 Provide first aid.
HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid.
HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy.
HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources.
Our instructors are all industry-experienced and come from a background in healthcare and emergency services.
This training covers both theory and practical aspects of the course. There is a short multiple choice quiz and short answer booklet at the end of the training covering the course theory learnt that day. Students will also be assessed on practical skills as a requirement to pass the course.
Prerequisite: There are no prerequisites for this course.
Online learning: Online learning is required for this unit of competence. Online pre-learning will take approximately 1.5 – 2hrs to complete.
Minimum age: Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance.
Requirements: Students are required to bring a form of photo ID on the day of their practical course. We suggest that you wear comfortable casual clothing, as the practical nature of the demonstrations and practice may possibly require bending, kneeling and lying on the floor.
