This unit covers the competency required to administer restricted analgesics as a part of a medically supervised first responder organisation and is relevant for personnel from emergency services and/or volunteer organisations or organisations that provide a medically supervised first aid service. It includes identifying the need for analgesia; accessing, preparing and administering restricted pain relief such as analgesics and aspirin according to medically endorsed protocols; performing casualty handovers and completing analgesic use requirements.

Prerequisite: HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

Minimum age: Students must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance.

Requirements: Students are required to bring a form of photo ID on the day of their practical course.
