First Aid Training Group’s Emergency Warden and Fire Extinguisher Combination training course combines all elements of the Warden Course (PUAFER005) and Fire Extinguisher Course (PUAFER008) in one highly interactive session.

All work in this area must be completed in accordance with relevant legislative, industry, customer and organisational requirements, including Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures.

A detailed description of the course can be viewed in the most recent version of the Competency Standards for each unit.

Learning Objectives

Are you prepared for an Emergency and compliant to Australian Standards?

First Aid Training Group’s comprehensive Combination Fire Warden and Fire Equipment practical training course will provide participants with the knowledge, skill and confidence to effectively fulfil the role of Fire Warden and safely use fire suppression equipment within their workplace during an emergency.

This course is suitable for companies and organisations which require selected members of staff to be trained as building fire wardens, and will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage building emergencies.

This course provides participants with the knowledge and skill to effectively fulfil their duties as a warden in the event of an emergency.

Objectives include;

  • OH&S requirements and current legislation
  • Warden roles and responsibilities
  • Building Safety
  • Fire drills and fire prevention measures
  • Evacuation and assembly priorities and procedures
  • The R.A.C.E system of fire safety
  • Managing Fire, bomb threats, medical emergencies and other emergencies
  • Identifying the correct fire extinguishers and suppression equipment

In addition, the course also covers demonstrating the use of portable fire extinguishers, hose reels plus the effective and safe use of a fire blanket and includes;

Determine the classification and fire type

Select the appropriate fire extinguisher to attack the fire. Demonstrate usage of fire extinguishers safely according to the manufacturers’ instructions, and in accordance with relevant OH&S and workplace policies and procedures.

Demonstrate correct usage of a fire hose reel

Demonstrate usage of the hose reel safely according to manufacturers’ instructions and in accordance with relevant OHS and workplace policies and procedures. Turn off water in the approved sequence and check the hose reel for leaks. Rewind the hose reel correctly after use.

Demonstrate correct usage of a fire blanket

Demonstrate usage of the fire blanket safely according to manufacturers’ instructions and in accordance with the relevant OHS and workplace policies and procedures.

Course Details

The face to face training is 4 hours and covers Fire Warden training including the theory and practical aspects of Confine Small Workplace Emergencies (Fire Extinguisher Training).

Certificate Validity

As per AS3745-2010 ‘Planning for Emergencies in Facilities’, training is recommended annually.

Once enrolled, First Aid Training Group will email students a combined Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation and Confine Small Workplace Emergencies booking confirmation with course requirements and terms of enrolment.
